Brake joins SHEF over a latte
Tom Brake joined parents at the Sports Village in Sutton on Tuesday to find out more about SHEF - the Sutton Home Education Forum.
The Sports Village was the chosen meeting place because it provides many sporting activities for home-educated children.

After winning its 5th Green Flag award this year, Tom Brake MP visited Beddington Infants’ School to celebrate the fantastic success of its eco programme.
Tom spent the morning speaking with pupils and staff at the school to learn about their award winning eco project and how it is helping to save the world!
Free compost bins available from Sutton Council
Free home composting bins will now be available to all Sutton residents, as part of the council’s continuing mission to go greener.
Residents can order their choice of a 220 or 330-litre bin and pay just £5 for delivery. Up to three bins can be ordered.

A major project to overhaul the Sutton Station gateway - being co-ordinated by Sutton’s Liberal democrat council as part of a major £1.3m upgrade - has reached another stage.
The improvements, which are being done in partnership with Transport for London (TfL), Network Rail and Southern Railway, include changes to the station itself such as the installation of an electronic bus countdown, additional cycle facilities and a new side entrance to relieve congestion in the ticket hall area, which opened last October.

The Liberal Democrats and the Coalition Government, last week, announced the great news that free Wi-Fi is set to be rolled out on rail services. Millions of pounds will be spent on faster Wi-Fi for commuter trains across England and Wales.
The scheme will be funded, in part, by the record-breaking fine given to Network Rail last summer for missing punctuality targets and will provide seamless mobile internet connections that will be at least 10 times better than the services currently provided.

The award, created by the Lib Dems in government, has granted St Philomena’s Catholic School for Girls and Wallington County Grammar School £5,000 each.

Sutton residents who have contributed in a variety of ways too their community have been acknowledged with the announcement of the 2014 Sutton Community Awards.
The residents who have made an outstanding contribution towards making the borough a better place to live and work were named on 24 February at a special award ceremony in the borough. The winners were Loredana Beasant, George Hall, Mark Tomlinson, Tracy Fitzmaurice, Aaron Hearne and Shannon Fletcher.
