Bobby Dean, Liberal Democrat candidate for Carshalton and Wallington, will be speaking at The UK River Summit, which is being held on May 21st 2024 at Morden Hall on the River Wandle.

The event promises to be a platform for collaboration and communication to improve river health across the UK, with some of the most prominent environmental campaigners coming together to deliver a more positive future for our rivers.

Bobby will be speaking at a panel event titled “Effecting Policy” before showcasing “Wandle: River At Risk”, the locally produced documentary about the River Wandle that Bobby presents, in a screening at the end of the day.

The Liberal Democrats have led calls for better protections for our rivers, demanding a sewage tax on £2.2 billion water company annual profits and a ban on water company executive bonuses in an effort to clean up Britain’s waterways.

Commenting, Bobby Dean said:

“I’m delighted that The UK River Summit is being held at Morden Hall on the River Wandle. It’s the perfect setting for a really important discussion about how we protect our rivers going forward.

“Giving the various players involved in river health, from environmentalists to activists, local people to big business, a chance to come together is hugely important.

“I’m grateful to have the opportunity to contribute and showcase our locally produced documentary film. Events like this will go a long way to ensure that the River Wandle, and other waterways across the country, will be properly looked after in the future.”
