Your Stonecot Liberal Democrat team
Rob and Cumar
Rob and Cumar are the Lib Dem team fighting for local people in Stonecot.
They have a proven track record of delivering for the local community having already served as councillors for four years. Their experience means they know what it takes to make sure our area has a strong voice in the council chamber.
They have already been part of the hard work the local Lib Dem council and Luke Taylor MP have been doing to secure new investment in our high streets, keep our borough one of the safest places to live in the country and make sure that help is available to families struggling with the cost of living crisis.
Unlike the other parties, Rob and Cumar are regularly out and about in our community, knocking on doors and fixing local issues.
Together, they will fight for Stonecot's future, making sure that nobody is left behind and that local residents and groups are involved in decision making about the issues that matter most to them.
Rob is a longstanding and well known Stonecot resident. He lives here with his family and has worked as a local tradesman for most of his life. He is proud to represent the area he lives in and ensures he is always present and approachable to support and represent his community.
Since being elected in 2022 following years of Conservative neglect in his area, Rob has worked to support green flag status for a local park, attends every Neighbourhood Watch meeting, stopped TfL’s traffic chaos proposals for a bus lane on the a217, improved street cleaning, secured the future of the Sutton Life Centre Library, has had anti fly tipping cameras installed and always fights for Stonecot getting its fair share of funding and attention.
Cumar graduated as an engineer and worked in the telecom industry for many years across the world - designing telecom solutions and negotiating high-level contracts. He has lived in Sutton for most of his life, and raised his children here. He is passionate about making sure that the local NHS is the strongest it can possibly be - and has been a leading voice for rescuing St Helier hospital, as well as serving as an elected governor of the Kingston and Richmond NHS Foundation Trust.
Ever since his car was stolen right off his driveway, he has been particularly focused on tackling late night crime - so he has taken action against faulty street lights, and has boosted pedestrian safety with a new crossing opposite the GP surgery in Stonecot Hill.
