Progress on £110 million redevelopment of local mental health hospital

Significant progress is being made on the £110 million redevelopment of Tolworth Mental Health hospital, a project that will help deliver better care for patients across South London, including Carshalton and Wallington.
Tolworth mental health hospital provides specialist support to people experiencing a wide range of serious mental health conditions, including bipolar affective disorder, paranoid schizophrenia, psychosis, depression, and personality disorders.
The redevelopment has already seen derelict buildings on the site cleared and now construction is well underway on a new, state-of-the-art five-ward facility.
Bobby, who was previously the mental health champion for Sutton Council, visited the hospital with Liberal Democrat Leader Ed Davey.
Speaking after the visit, Bobby said:
"It was fantastic to see the huge progress being made at Tolworth. This investment will mean better facilities and better outcomes for patients.
“Mental health has too often been overlooked in the past, and I’m glad to see real action being taken here that will benefit our community.”
