Pollution control barriers have been installed on Bridges Lane, after the Beddington Lib Dem team noticed sewage entering the Wandle from a storm drain.

This was raised with Thames Water who are continuing to investigate the source of the pollution.

Cllr Rob Leah said, “We are pressing Thames Water to carry out its investigation quickly so that the cause can be properly addressed.

“A common problem is misconnected drains, where foul drains from nearby properties are connected to a storm water drain intended for rainwater rather than a sewer. The owners of the property are often completely unaware of this. We will keep residents updated.”
