POLICE: Keep an eye out for "Garden-Hopping" burglars

Councillor Stephen Kingdom and Councillor Melody Thorpe both attended the Cuppa with a Coppa hosted by PCSO Steve King.

Steve raised that burglaries have been high over the last few months - especially in South Cheam. He reminded residents that if you see an unknown individual on your property or in your garden in the early hours or late at night to call 999 quickly.

There’s been a spate of cases of “garden hoppers” in the early hours of the morning - which is worth letting the police know about even if they don’t attempt to break in.

We’re also urging you to share this information or any spottings with your neighbours on street Whatsapp groups.

Tackling crime and antisocial behaviour remains one of our key priorities.

Alongside supporting a visible neighbourhood policing presence, we’re building stronger partnerships between the police, the Council and local communities to tackle burglary, vehicle crime and antisocial behaviour.
