One of Carshalton's best-known historic buildings, the Old Rectory on Festival Walk, is set for a new lease of life. It will be restored and brought it back into use as offices for a local business.

For years, local councillors Isabel, Andrew and Jake, have been working hard to secure the future of Carshalton’s much-loved Old Rectory.

Due to budget constraints from years of central government cuts, the Council could not keep the building in use and so it has stood empty for some time.

The Lib Dem-run Council has been negotiating with a local business to buy the building to use it as offices, supporting local jobs and employment while preserving the historic nature of the property.

Cllr Jake Short said, “A local insurance business has taken ownership of the building and will begin restoring it for office use, making this historic landmark a building the whole community can be proud of.

“Alongside the Lodge and Grove House this is another of Carshalton’s historic buildings being sensitively restored and brought back into use.”
