Local updates from the North Cheam Police Panel
North Cheam LibDem Councillors attended the North Cheam Police Ward Panel Meeting last night (13/05) at Christ Church with St Philip, in Worcester Park.
The Met's North Cheam Safer Neighbourhoods Team updated those present with a list of crimes committed in the last three months, mostly theft of or from motor vehicles, robberies (several in and around Sainsbury's) and burglaries. The good news is that the team has arrested a shoplifter, returned the team to two PCs as well as a PCSO, and they will soon be commencing Traffic Ops to catch speeding motorists (Malden Road and Marlow Drive were specifically mentioned as speeding hotspots).
The Councillors provided updates regarding the Victoria House development, having recently met with the new owners, and the new ebike/escooter parking bays at the top of Lavender, Courtenay and Lloyd that were installed by TfL. The oversized curb TfL installed at the top of Lavender, which caused punctures in some residents' vehicles, has since been removed following our complaints.
Councillors also asked about antisocial behaviour in Fairlands Park, as previously reported by residents, and PCSO Daud, pictured with us, reassured everyone that the team patrols the park frequently, including immediately before and after this meeting.
Sergeant Eames informed us that, since Luke Taylor MP wrote to the Aldi CEO, shoplifting has been addressed at the North Cheam branch of Aldi, having previously been one of the worst affected shops in Sutton.
Thank you to Alan Plant, for chairing the meeting, as well as the officers and residents who attended.
