Lib Dem Councillors work with the police for a safer Wallington

Liberal Democrat Councillors have been working with the police to see a more visible presence in Wallington town centre both as a deterrent and to spot criminal activity.
Councillors received local intelligence about key hangouts for drug users and spates of thefts which they passed on to the local police team to act on. In response the police have carried out targeted activities and made a number of arrests.
Councillors also listened to traders and residents at a public crime meeting organised by Wallington Community Action and attended by Bobby Dean MP and the local police.
Liberal Democrat Councillor Jayne McCoy said:
”We are working to improve areas that may attract criminal activity.
“The broken fence in the library car park, which allowed access to the empty youth hut, has now been repaired. Work has been undertaken to fix entry doors for flats to ensure that residents feel safer in their homes. We're now working to get graffiti cleaned up.”
