Keeping Sutton Safe: Meeting with local police
I recently met with Superintendent Rich Lloyd-Ablitt at Sutton Police Station to raise the concerns residents have shared with me about crime and anti-social behaviour in our area.
Keeping Carshalton and Wallington one of the safest parts of London is a top priority for me. That means listening to what people are experiencing day to day, and making sure those concerns are heard directly by senior officers.
In our meeting, I raised a number of issues that residents have contacted me about, including:
Anti-social behaviour in town centres and residential streets
Motor theft and vehicle-related crime
Shoplifting and the impact this is having on local businesses
Nuisance e-bikes and e-scooters, including dangerous riding and intimidation
Everyone deserves to feel safe in their neighbourhood, and local businesses should be able to trade without fear of repeated theft and abuse. Tackling these problems also depends on having the resources and visible policing needed to deter offending and respond quickly when incidents happen.
I am grateful to Superintendent Lloyd-Ablitt for taking the time to meet and discuss these issues, and I will continue to push for action on the concerns you have raised with me.
If you have been affected by any of these problems, please continue to write into my office so I can keep making the case for the focus and support Sutton needs.
