Do this one thing to unlock better train services in Carshalton and Wallington...

In a transport debate in Parliament, I highlighted ongoing concerns about declining train services across our borough, and why the Government should invest in a small infrastructure project that could have a big impact on our area.

The proposed Croydon Area Remodelling Scheme (CARS) is a project that has been discussed for years, and its purpose is simple: to increase capacity, modernise key stations and reduce the delays that affect so many passengers travelling across the region.

It is a proposed rail upgrade that includes modernising track and signalling in the Selhurst triangle, a badly laid‑out junction where trains get bottlenecked, causing delays across the wider network. This affects many stations in our area including Carshalton, Hackbridge, Wallington and Carshalton Beeches.

Faster and more dependable services would open up opportunities, support local growth and help people travel more easily across the capital.

Investment in major rail projects in London and the South East have been repeatedly overlooked, despite clear evidence of the wider economic benefits such schemes could generate.

I have already written to the Rail Minister following the debate, and will keep residents updated on a response.
