Worcester Park South Lib Dem councillors Jenna Hartley-Smith and Luni Sabharwal are delighted to see huge progress being made at Cuddington Recreation Ground, where the kids’ playground has been upgraded and works are underway to prevent more flooding.

A brand-new multi-use play unit, with four slides now takes centre stage, offering children of all ages a fun and exciting space to enjoy. The entire playground surface has also been resurfaced, making it safer and more accessible for all users.

We know how eagerly residents and families were waiting for the playground to reopen, and we worked hard throughout the process to keep the community informed about progress and timelines. Seeing children, including our own, enjoying the new facilities has made every effort worthwhile.

Work on the flood alleviation scheme is progressing well. The basins have been successfully dug, and attention has now turned to the installation of a bridge over the entrance of the Beverley Brook into the wetland area, a key milestone in the scheme.

We have been in regular communication with officers throughout, raising resident concerns and ensuring the project is being delivered to the standard our community deserves. In particular we have requested that the Brook be cleared again, which officers are currently arranging with Idverde.

We are now seeking funding to replace the open bins in the playground and near the tennis courts with enclosed alternatives to reduce littering caused by foxes and wind, as well as looking into additional seating and bench options across the park. We are committed to working closely with the Friends of Cuddington, local residents, and park users to shape these future improvements.
