Council rejects Beddington anaerobic digester plan

Sutton Council’s planning committee has voted down a proposed anaerobic digester, a facility that processes food waste, in the Beddington industrial area.

Ed Joyce, Lib Dem Councillor for Beddington South, has raised resident concerns regarding potential increased vehicle movements and unpleasant smells.

Under UK planning law, the company behind the proposal retains the right to appeal.

Cllr Ed Joyce said:
“We are committed to keeping residents fully informed and ensuring their voices continue to be heard throughout any potential appeal process.”
