The London Cancer Hub will be built in Sutton, it has been confirmed, following the project being green-lit by Sutton Council's planning committee.

The new site will be built in collaboration with the Institute of Cancer Research, The Royal Marsden NHS Foundation Trust, Maggies, local secondary school Harris Academy Sutton, developers Socius and Aviva Capital Partners. It will sit nestled in the heart of the emerging hub for life sciences in Belmont.

The Hub is forecast to support 13,000 jobs in our area and contribute over £1bn to the local economy.

This is, put simply, a huge moment for our borough. The Sutton Lib Dems are proud to have been working for years to secure this investment, create local jobs and make sure that Sutton's name is known globally for world-leading research.

Leader of the Council Barry Lewis said:

“This is a hugely significant moment for Sutton, London, and the UK life-science sector. The approval for the next stage of the London Cancer Hub cements Sutton as a leading global destination for cancer drug discovery.

“This landmark development will deliver economic growth, significant health innovations, and tangible benefits for our community, including jobs. I’m immensely proud of the Council's work in acquiring the land, securing grant funding, and finding partners in Aviva and Socius to deliver this project. Now I look forward to seeing the construction get underway!”
