Bobby Dean MP has challenged Chancellor John Healey for failing to act on defence funding in the Budget.

Speaking on GB News, Bobby pointed out that Healey had resigned as Defence Secretary over the failure to commit to spending 3% of GDP on defence, but had now missed the opportunity to deliver it as Chancellor.

Bobby said: “John Healey felt so strongly about defence funding that he resigned over it. Now he holds the purse strings, he’s chosen not to act. This Budget was his opportunity to turn those words into action. Instead, he’s left the difficult decisions for another year.

“Our defence needs aren’t going to disappear. Delaying could leave him with even less room to act next year. If this was urgent enough to resign over, it should be urgent enough to address as Chancellor.”
