Bobby Dean MP has met staff and residents and reviewed independent reports on essential pipework repairs to St Helier Hospital’s women’s health unit, including maternity services.

Options include a temporary modular building at St Helier, carrying out repairs floor by floor, or moving services to other hospitals during the works.

Bobby said: “These repairs are essential, but how they’re carried out matters enormously to staff and local families. Every viable option to keep maternity services at St Helier must be properly explored.

“I’m particularly concerned about whether neighbouring hospitals could cope if neonatal services were moved. We need clear answers about the capacity, staffing and funding that would be needed.

“If services do have to move temporarily, we need firm assurances that they will return. A temporary move must not become a permanent loss of maternity care for our community.”

Bobby will continue pressing the local NHS Trust and government ministers for answers on how services will be protected during the repairs.
