“The 154 route matters”: MP tells local bus company Go Ahead
Bobby Dean, MP for Carshalton & Wallington, visited the Go-Ahead Sutton bus garage on 2 March 2026 to meet the team keeping local services moving and to see the depot’s new electric buses.
During the visit, Bobby spoke with bus drivers, managers and engineering staff, and toured the garage to learn more about how buses are maintained day-to-day — including the work of mechanics and the behind-the-scenes planning that helps services run safely and reliably.
Bobby also saw Go-Ahead’s new electric buses up close, which will help cut pollution and improve air quality for residents across Sutton.
Bobby Dean MP commented:
“Buses are absolutely essential for people in Sutton. We’re not served by the London Underground, so reliable bus services are a lifeline – getting residents to work, school, hospital appointments and into town.
“I’m really grateful to the drivers, mechanics and managers at the Go-Ahead Sutton garage for the warm welcome and for everything they do. And it’s great to see new electric buses coming into service, improving air quality while keeping people connected.”
The visit also followed Bobby’s successful petition and campaign to improve the 154 bus service, reflecting the importance residents place on better, more dependable public transport.
Bobby said:
“Local people have been clear that the 154 matters. Our petition and campaign showed just how strongly residents feel about protecting and improving the service, and I’ll keep pushing for the reliable public transport Sutton needs.”
