ENDS Power List Bobby Dean

Bobby Dean, the Liberal Democrat candidate for Carshalton and Wallington, has made it onto a list of 50 UK politicians who have had the greatest impact on green issues over the past two years.

In his role as a Councillor in Sutton, Bobby has been an active campaigner against the pumping of raw sewage into the River Wandle.

Last year, he presented a documentary on the damage being done to the chalk stream, which runs through the heart of Carshalton and Wallington – an area which he hopes to represent in Parliament after the upcoming general election.

Wandle: River at Risk will be screened at the UK River Summit next week, which is being held on the banks of the Wandle at Morden Hall.

Bobby will speak at the event, which aims to improve river health across the UK and brings together some of the most prominent environmental campaigners to deliver a positive future for Britain’s waterways.

If elected to Parliament, Bobby seeks to champion the Liberal Democrat policy of a sewage tax on water company profits, which totalled £2.2bn last year, and a ban on water company executive bonuses.

Bobby Dean said:

“It is a huge privilege to be recognised by ENDS Report in their 2024 Power List.

“I would not have achieved this without the support of numerous volunteers in Sutton, so I want to pay tribute to them for making this happen.

“I hope that in the near future I can be their voice in Parliament, standing up for the Wandle and making sure our rivers are better looked after for future generations.”
