Belmont Cllrs: Hitting the Ground Running

Belmont team

Since being elected in May 2026, we have been working hard on the issues that matter most to you, which you raised during the election.

When we were campaigning we completed an audit of all of the streets logging potholes, blocked drains, overhanging branches, and other challenges on our streets. We are pleased to see that potholes are being filled and where those are still outstanding we will continue to push for resolutions with officers.

We have hit the ground running - in recent weeks we have:

  • Resolved issues with bin collections at a couple of blocks of flats, and are working to ensure that they have access to recycling and food waste bins.
  • Quickly reported damaged street furniture including a damaged traffic island on Downs Road.
  • We have as councillors done a street walk on Avenue Road with local residents at school pick-up time to see some of the parking and driving issues up close.
  • Worked with officers to relocate the bin from outside Buckingham Court to the corner of Dorset Road as it was under utilised in its previous location.

As you local councillors we want to make sure we are working to get things resolved for you, so we are holding surgeries at St John’s Church Hall on the second Saturday of each month from 10:30 until 12:00. If you want to come and speak to us in person, please do drop in as there is no need to make an appointment!
