Action on reckless e-bike riding

In response to concerns raised by Beddington’s Lib Dem councillors, the local police team is carrying out increased high-visibility patrols to deter antisocial e-bike riders.

The local Liberal Democrat team has received a large number of complaints from residents about reckless e-bike riders, particularly on shared paths.

Cllr Sue Ebanks said, "This is not a straightforward problem to resolve, but we are committed to taking action.

"As well as increased police action, we are exploring ways to slow cyclists down while keeping the paths accessible for wheelchairs, mobility scooters
and pushchairs.

"The council has also put the rental e-bike scheme back out to tender and is insisting on stronger controls to address the concerns raised by residents."
