Save Community Policing

Worcester Park Police Station works as the base for the local Safer Neighbourhood Team, allowing local officers to spend more time in our area to keep us safe.

Police budget cuts in recent years have led to police force mergers across London and now Sutton, Bromley and Croydon are one force and share resources. At the same time, the police have closed and sold many former police stations. The Police counter in Worcester Park is next on the list so the Safer Neighbourhood Team will now have to take a bus from Sutton Police Station at the start and end of each shift. This is despite an offer from local residents to provide an alternative base in Worcester Park free of charge, which has been turned down by the police .

This attack on community policing can only lead to us all being and feeling less safe. We are asking Commander of Sutton, Croydon and Bromley, Commander Stringer, to alter course and provide a local base for our Safer Neighbourhood Team.
