St Helier Hospital Betrayal

St Helier Hospital has been the bedrock of our local community for decades. Now it is set to lose its A&E and Maternity services.

The local Lib Dems have worked alongside residents for years in a constant effort to safeguard all services at the hospital. Sutton Liberal Democrats led a petition to protect services at St Helier which was signed by over 25,000 people.

However, just months after the general election, both local Tory MPs abandoned the hospital, celebrating investment elsewhere as our local hospital loses its A&E and Maternity services.

Lib Dem Parliamentary Spokesperson for Carshalton and Wallington Bobby Dean said:

'Former MP Tom Brake fought for over twenty years to keep vital services at St Helier Hospital. Now the local Tory MPs are misleading the public by spinning the investment in a far away new hospital as a victory for St Helier. It's nothing short of a betrayal.

'Residents deserve an MP that will stand up for all residents, instead of toe-ing Boris Johnson's party line.

'The Lib Dems will never give up on the fight to keep services at St Helier. That's just one of the reasons why so many people are backing the Lib Dems at the council elections in May'.
