The bridge at Sutton Train Station has received a revamp courtesy of South London artist Lionel Stanhope. Stanhope has been transforming railway bridges across London with his unique style of retro typography.
The mural features a 150 year-old steam train named “Sutton”, owned by Sutton Council for over five decades and currently being restored to its former glory.
Sutton South Councillor Richard Clifton said:
“We’re all so pleased that we were able to use money from the council’s local committee to fund the painting of the bridge. Hundreds of people use the station to commute every day - and now they and other passers-by will be able to enjoy a brand new look for the bridge - and such a unique one too! We are always looking for new and ambitious projects to invest in to improve our area!”
