Sutton Council have been consulting residents across the borough about parking problems in their area. We can now confirm the details of 6 targeted parking schemes going ahead in Geographical Area One.
Some people raised objections to the Traffic Management Orders for these schemes, and each respondent will receive a written response from the Council. But Council officers did not consider that the submissions amounted to valid technical objections to the scheme.
You can look at the parking schemes which have been confirmed here. They affect St Helier, Hackbridge, Wallington North, and the area around Carshalton Station.
These schemes are significantly different to the ones originally proposed in the consultation. We are glad that we were able to work with residents to propose sensible solutions which address residents’ parking problems, while avoiding the unintended consequences which some residents raised concerns about.
The schemes are focussed around areas where there is a clear parking problem, permit prices are among the cheapest in London, and the schemes will not involve yellow lines being drawn over people’s drives (except for when they are needed for safety reasons, such as on the corner of roads).
The implementation of these schemes will be phased area by area, and will commence in early 2020.
