Sutton’s Liberal Democrat leaders are calling for urgent action in support of Syrian refugees fleeing from the disastrous humanitarian crisis in the Middle East.  

Liberal Democrat Leader of Sutton Council, Ruth Dombey, has mobilised the resources of Sutton Council to prepare its support in case the government changes its rigid stance on accepting more refugees.

People’s Kitchen project finds recipe for success

Around 600 people have been taught how to create healthy meals with fresh ingredients through a series of Sutton Council-funded roadshows.

The People’s Kitchen, run by the Sutton Community Farm on behalf of the Liberal Democrat-led council, emphasised the importance of eating fresh food to 650 people with 590 of them actually taking part in cooking lessons.

Sutton’s film unit attracts a big-budget Carlsberg commercial

Beddington Park in Carshalton was recently used as the location to bring together two of the most famous Danish exports – former Manchester United goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel and Carlsberg – for a commercial soon to appear on national screens.

During the three-day shoot in June, spectators had the opportunity to watch the player considered to be the world’s best goalkeeper of 1992 and 1993 in action.  Children from the nearby after-school club were also able to watch throughout the filming.
