March Ward Walk

(By Luke Taylor)

Yesterday afternoon I did my (aiming for) monthly ward ride around Sutton West and East Cheam ward in Sutton, riding (almost) every road in the ward with Ted before my gear cable snapped on Collingwood Road and left me stuck in first gear!

Generally the ward is looking great in the Spring sunshine, the blossoms on the trees on Sunningdale Road, Quarry Park Road and Orchard Road looking particularly fine. Sutton West and East Cheam is a great place to live.

As with last month, there is very little litter around, a couple of spots reported for cleaning, a couple of fly-tips and some leaf and stick buildup to clear too. Residents are putting lots of effort in to keep their streets tidy. Leaf buildup on St James Road. LBS-CLEAN411142073, A Christmas Tree!? Grove Avenue. Veolia and the Council seem to be doing a decent job of clearing reports too. See some pictures of a couple I had reported over the last month. I'll now check back on todays reports later this week to make sure they're done.

From last month; Serious dip in the road on Western Road recently reported and now repaired, Broken bollard at end of Frederick Close removed and Patching of (some of the) pot holes on Gander Green Lane.

Another thing that is a problem is the condition of the A217 cycle path, terrible surface, strewn with stones, broken glass and general detritus. This is a bad piece of standalone cycling infrastructure and needs a proper rethink.

Good progress on a lot of issues, and generally good response from the council when issues are reported.
