After 5 years in Sutton, Cllr Manuel Abellan will be starting a new job in February and will be leaving his roles as Councillor for Beddington South, Deputy Leader of the Council, and Chair of the Environment and Sustainable Transport Committee on 30th January.
Looking back on his time here, Manuel said:
"I am so proud of what we have accomplished to keep Sutton one of the best places to live, work and raise a family, despite over a decade of austerity. We have attracted millions of pounds to improve Sutton High Street and our district centres, built new energy-efficient council homes and created the London Cancer Hub.
"It's been an honour to represent the residents of Sutton and especially those in my ward of Beddington South for the last 8 years. This unique experience has been incredibly rewarding but also humbling at times, and I will carry many fond memories with me for years to come".
Everyone at Sutton Liberal Democrats wishes Manuel every success in his new role and would like to thank him for everything he has done.
Lib Dem Leader of Sutton Council Ruth Dombey said:
“We wish Manuel all the best in the future. He should be extremely proud of all he has helped the Liberal Democrats achieve in Sutton – delivering award-winning environmentally sustainable schools, improving the air quality across the borough, and improving parking in Sutton for everyone who lives here.
“His work has helped keep Sutton a great place to live, work and raise a family in the face of years of Conservative cuts to Council funding. He will be sorely missed”
