Yesterday, Lib Dem-run Sutton Council unveiled a brand new, permanent pride crossing in the town centre. The crossing, painted between Sutton's Civic Offices and the town centre serve as a key reminder that both Sutton Council and our town are open, inclusive and welcoming.
As a result of this action, Sutton now joins one of only a handful of London councils with a permanent crossing celebrating the LGBTQ Community.
Cllr Jake Short, who initiated the project and is the Council's Equalities lead said:
"I'm really thrilled that officers have been able to complete this crossing so quickly. It stands as a testament to how dedicated this council is to promoting equality and inclusion. I'm also extremely proud that we are now one of a few councils that has such a permanent reminder of that openness and inclusivity."
