Our local NHS Trust employs over 5,000 healthcare staff who have worked tirelessly over the past year.
Nurses have been at the forefront of the pandemic, battling to save everyone hospitalised with coronavirus over the past year - including our Conservative Prime Minister. Yet the 3% pay increase offered by the government on 21st July will mean a cut in real terms. With inflation projected at 3.7%, nurses and other local NHS workers will receive the equivalent of over £200 less a week. Sutton Lib Dems are calling on the government to give nurses a real pay rise.
London Assembly Member Hina Bokhari said, "Our local Conservative MPs have shown how cheaply they value the sacrifices and hard-work of nurses serving in the biggest health emergency for a century. Sutton Lib Dems are demanding the government recognise all they have done and grant nurses the pay rise they deserve".
"I pledge to support our nurses and demand they receive a proper pay-rise"
