Sutton Faces Cruel Winter

Years of Conservative failure has left residents across Carshalton and Wallington facing a devastating cost of living crisis.

Families already struggling to recover from the pandemic face a triple whammy of tax rises, benefit reductions and record price increases.

The UK's energy crisis leaves many residents with a choice between eating and heating this winter - with even bigger pice rises expected in the new year.

Many shops are hiking prices and struggling to get food on the shelves. While a shortage of HGV drivers saw thousands of local residents unable to get to work due to fuel running out at petrol stations.

Lib Dem Parliamentary Spokesperson for Carshalton and Wallington Bobby Dean said:

'Boris Johnson and the Conservative party are totally out of touch with the every day struggles ordinary families face.

'People I speak to are worried about how they will cope in the months to come. Everything is getting more expensive, support from the Government is being cut and tax rises will mean everyone will see less money in their pay packet each month.

'The Prime Minister is taking no responsibility - pointing the finger and without a credible plan to make people's lives easier.

'Instead of helping, the Conservative Government is squeezing local people already desperately struggling to get by. They must scrap their unfair tax rise - which will hit people on the lowest incomes the hardest -and their heartless cuts to Universal Credit'.
