Council partners with ViaVan to support vulnerable residents

Sutton Council and ViaVan, who recently partnered to bring you the on-demand bus service GoSutton, have once again come together in the face of the Covid-19 crisis to supply emergency food and supplies to more than 1,000 vulnerable residents across the borough.

Using a mobile app, ViaVan is able to effectively coordinate and communicate with volunteer drivers who signed up to help at Sutton’s Food Hub.

The hub has currently been sending out over 700 parcels a week to those in need throughout the borough. Residents receiving the weekly provisions have expressed their enormous gratitude for this service.

Joint-deputy leader of the Council Manuel Abellan said:

“Since launch on 2nd May, ViaVan’s technology has made it possible to improve the speed, efficiency and scalability of our response to the needs of vulnerable residents. Delivery times have in a lot of cases been cut in half because of this partnership, so we are extremely pleased with this fantastic partnership between ourselves and Via Van which means we were able to deliver on our promise to get food and supplies to those who need it in these extraordinary times.”
