4-step plan to make Foresters Drive safer

Over the last year, the Lib Dem team in Beddington South have organised speed surveys, site visits with Council engineers and secured funding for a study to see what can be done to reduce speeding and make the junction at Foresters Drive and Sandy Lane South safer.

Council officers recently submitted draft proposals but the Lib Dems asked them to do more work as we did not consider that they were good enough.

They have agreed with Council officers to look at 4 specific issues:

  1. Reducing speeding along Foresters Drive.
  2. Banning heavy lorries from driving on Foresters Drive.
  3. Introducing a safe crossing on Foresters Drive somewhere between Mollison Drive and Plough Lane.
  4. Improve the junction at Foresters Drive and Sandy lane South.

Due to massive cuts by the Conservative Government to Sutton Council, the Council has a lot less money and fewer resources for such schemes -- that's why we have agreed to address each step in different phases.

If elected in the May Council elections, delivering this plan will be Manuel Abellan, Ed Joyce and Mo Saqib's number one priority.
