Tom Brake back in Westminster for fifth stint as MP for Carshalton and Wallington

Tom Brake has been sworn in for the fifth time as the member of Parliament for Carshalton and Wallington.

Following what was a disappointing national result for the Lib Dems, Tom Brake has wasted no time in spearheading a fight-back to make sure that Britain has a stronger Liberal voice in Parliament.

Since the election, over 15,000 new members have joined the Lib Dems and many more are expected to follow now that an unrestrained Conservative government are threatening to implement some of their more unpopular and radical policies, previously vetoed by the Liberal Democrats.

Commenting on his reelection and the fight-back Tom Brake said:

“I’m delighted to have been chosen by the people of Carshalton and Wallington to be their representative for another five years. I’m pleased to see that despite the national trend, there are still many who believe in Liberal values and the importance of having a Liberal voice in the UK Parliament and wanted to support me.

“I will continue to work tirelessly for the people of Carshalton and Wallington and I will continue to help protect vital services like the A and E and Maternity Units at St Helier.

“Despite the disappointing results for the Liberal Democrats in the election, the number of new recruits to our party shows there is a desire for a strong Lib Dem presence in Parliament. I strongly urge all of you who have thought about joining the party to do so and together we can make sure that the Conservatives are held to account for what they are going to do in government.”
