The Old Rectory saved!

We are delighted to report that Lib Dem Sutton Council will preserve the Old Rectory, near Carshalton Ponds, for future generations.

It will be converted into a mixed-use building that includes four residential flats, and a ground floor and basement space to be let for commercial use.

This would allow members of the public and visitors to view the historic interior on the ground floor.

As the Old Rectory is a listed building and part of the Carshalton Conservation Area, permission for works has to be given by Historic England and the Council's Planners. They would ensure that the conversion would be appropriate for a building of this type, to preserve the historic features.

The Council will invite bodies to make bids for the commercial space that would also be suitable for this historic building. The conversion will be undertaken by Sutton Living which will be granted a 125-year lease for the building and will let the flats.
