A major refurbishment of Sutton library is underway. Most books will be brought downstairs, where they can be viewed and borrowed more easily. The children's library will be moved downstairs, right next to the cafe.
There will be a dementia-friendly area for adults and the children's library will be easier to use for children with autism.
Improved study spaces will be provided on the middle and upper floors, with a new family history centre and more heritage displays.
Cllr Ali Mirhashem said: “This shows our commitment to the future of our libraries. It will make better use of the space, improve accessibility for all, and draw in younger people by making use of new technology.
