Sad death of Lib Dem’s greatly-respected Sutton and Cheam organiser

It is with much sadness that Sutton Liberal Democrats announce the death of David MacDonald, who was the party’s Sutton and Cheam organiser for more than three years.

David worked for the Sutton party and for Paul Burstow MP until just a few weeks ago, and had only just left to start a new job.  He had been ill last December, but had subsequently returned to work.  However following a reoccurrence of the illness he died suddenly on Saturday 1 August.

Sutton Lib Dem Chair, John Drage, described David as the ‘lynchpin of the Sutton office during his time with us’.

He continued: “David was a wonderful person who cared passionately about life and the values he held most dear. He was a dedicated Lib Dem and a wonderful friend and we all owe him so very much, It is just inconceivable that he is no longer with us.

“Our thoughts are with his longstanding girlfriend Sarah, and with his family who live in Burton-upon-Trent,” John Drage said.

Paul Burstow added his own tribute:  “David was so full of life and he worked so hard for the causes he cared deeply about.  We have all lost a friend taken too soon from us.

David's family and Sarah will be in our thoughts and prayers.”
