Opening of new social housing for over 60s

Cllr Jayne McCoy, Chair of the Housing, Economy & Business Committee and Lord Tope joined Sutton Mayor Cllr Jean Crossby to celebrate the official opening of Dillon Court, a development specially designed to accommodate older residents.

The development in Brighton Road, Sutton replaces the outdated Grace Court sheltered accommodation and provides 39 affordable housing flats, and 11 shared-ownership flats. This is a collaboration between CCHA and Orbit housing providers.

A tour of the development revealed well designed and spacious accommodation, and included flats adapted to accommodate people with disabilities including adjustable-height kitchen worktops and lowered bathroom fittings.

All the units include emergency call out facilities and access to a well-planned communal garden area.

It was also good to hear that partnership working with the nearby Sutton Lodge Day Centre had resulted in CCHA contributing towards renewing the kitchen at Sutton Lodge, which will in return welcome residents from Dillon Court to attend their regular events and activities aimed at older people.
