Local MP Paul Burstow helps delivers new ban on smoking in cars

Children across the country will be protected from passive smoking in cars, thanks to new legislation championed by local MP Paul Burstow.

It is estimated that one in five children are regularly exposed to second-hand smoke in cars and this new measure will deliver better protection against a range of smoking associated illnesses including asthma.

Commenting, Mr Burstow who chairs the All Party Parliamentary Group on Smoking and Health, said:  “When I meet with local schools, smoking, and what government is doing to tackle it, comes up more than any other single subject.  Today, I am delighted to say, Parliament heard the voice of children.”
