Wallington South Councillors Steve Cook, Jayne McCoy and Muhammad Sadiq are working to secure road safety improvements to deal with issues raised by local residents.
The Council is only given a small amount of money that has to be stretched across the whole borough, but your Councillors are pleased to report that three schemes will be implemented this year.
- The first is an HGV restriction in Elgin Road and St Michael’s Road to stop large vehicles using these narrow residential roads as a cut-through.
- The loading bay in front of KFC in Woodcote Road will be changed to Goods Vehicles Only loading to prevent the abuse of the bay and the angled parking that has posed a real safety risk to motorists, pedestrians, and most especially, cyclists.
- And a scheme is being worked up for Beddington Gardens near the junction with Shotfield to help our elderly residents feel safer crossing the road to get to the Jubilee Health Centre.
Cllr Steve Cook said: "As local Lib Dem Councillors, Jayne, Muhammad and I will continue to listen to local residents, work on their behalf and make Wallington an even better place to live, work and raise a family."
