Get help keeping your home warm this winter

Sutton Council is encouraging residents to find out whether they are eligible for help to keep their homes warm this winter.

The Energy Company Obligations scheme supports households on lower incomes and receiving certain benefits by providing funding for improving insulation and repairing gas boilers, and helping to reduce their heating bills.

Residents can find out whether they qualify for help by contacting the Energy Savings Trust on 0300 123 1234* or by visiting their website:www.energysavingtrust.org.uk/domestic/

Councillor Nick Emmerson, Lib Dem Vice Chair of Sutton Council’s Housing, Economy and Business Committee, said:  “We want everyone in Sutton to be able to live in a warm, healthy home. Residents can use the Energy Saving Trust’s online tools and find out whether they are eligible for assistance this winter.”

Insulation makes it easier to heat homes and keep them warm. It can also help reduce condensation, which can lead to mould growth. Better-insulated homes use less energy, and using less energy reduces carbon emissions and helps Sutton in achieving its One Planet Sutton goals.

*Calls to 0300 123 1234 will be charged at the same rate as landline calls to 01 or 02 numbers.
