Barry Lewis will be a local champion for Wallington North

Local resident Barry Lewis has been selected to succeed popular Lib Dem Councillor Joyce Melican in the Wallington North by-election, following her resignation through ill health.

Barry has been a local scout leader in Wallington for 30 years currently running a local Cub Pack and Explorer Scout Unit. He previously volunteered with adults with severe learning disabilities at the Orchard Hill Gateway club and as an appropriate adult at Sutton Police Station.

Barry has lived on Stanley Park Road since 1989 and was born, educated and married in Sutton. Barry raised his family here and his children all attended Sutton schools.

"I am delighted to have been selected to stand in Wallington North for the Liberal Democrats. Joyce was well liked and worked so hard for our area. I can never replace Joyce but I want to make sure that we carry on her work, standing up for local residents.

I have spent many years working with children and vulnerable adults and know how important local services are to them. If I am given the honour of serving on the Council I would work to ensure these services are protected despite Conservative cuts.”
